Favorite Things: The Slant Board
If you’re new to this blog - welcome! This is a space for me to share health & wellness tips and spotlight some of my favorite places, teachers, and props. I only share movement, teachers, and props that I have personal experience with - nothing is sponsored. Give these things a try, and let me know how the experience was for you!
My favorite studio prop lately has been the slant board. If you’ve got tight calves, hamstrings, or low back - this is the number one prop you should have in your home. Standing on this board seems simple because, well, it is. That’s the beauty of it. Standing on this board for 30 seconds to 5 minutes will help stretch out a tight posterior chain and relieve the pain from those tight muscles.
I especially love the slant board on days where you’ve been on your feet all day. For example, working, hosting guests, standing in long lines, hanging out at festivals and concerts, or after a run. When I’m on my feet all day, my low back starts to hurt. Lengthening out my posterior chain does more than occasional stretches to address the problem.
We keep a slant board in our living room and take turns standing on it while watching tv, breaks in making dinner, and any random moments we find. It’s a great place to stop and relax.
I’ve recommended this board to all of my private clients and every single one has said they love it.
You can buy your own here:
Things to know:
Amazon sells the board for $62.99 and StrongTek sells the board for $59.95. It’s worth the investment.
It’s adjustable! You can increase the angle of the slant as your posterior chain loosens.
It’s best to use the board barefoot or with shoes on. Your socks will slip right off.
